HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 19

Susman, Angotti, Caputo, Stalnaker, L. Smith, Yeager, Sparks,
Butcher, Jenkins, Harrison, Compton, Tillis, H. White, Thompson,
Pettit, Kelley, Campbell, Smirl, Louisos, Armstead and Hutchins)
Requesting the joint committee on government and finance to designate an area of the Capitol Building as a chapel.
Whereas, The Capitol houses the offices of approximately 135
elected public officials, including the offices of the highest
elected public officials in the three branches of government; and
Whereas, These officials and their employees, at times, work
extended hours and their primary residences may be at places
throughout the State; and
Whereas, These officials and employees may, at any time, need
accommodations for spiritual meditation and fulfillment which
may be provided by the availability of a chapel in the Capitol;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the joint committee on government and finance is
requested to designate an area of the Capitol as a chapel to help
meet the spiritual needs of persons who may work or visit here;
and, be it
Further Resolved, That expenses necessary to provide for an
appropriate chapel be paid from legislative appropriations to the
joint committee on government and finance.
